United Utility Power Services has secured a contract from Georgia Transmission to construct a new 230-kilovolt switching station in southwest Georgia, with delivery scheduled for early 2027.
United Utility Power Services (UUPS), a business unit of United Utility Services, will construct a three-element ring bus switching station as part of Georgia Transmission’s continuing investment in its electricity infrastructure.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with completion expected during the first quarter of 2027.
The new facility is intended to improve the reliability and operational flexibility of Georgia Transmission’s transmission network.
The contract builds on an established relationship between the two organisations, with UUPS previously delivering a range of transmission and substation projects for Georgia Transmission.
“This award reflects the strength of our relationship with Georgia Transmission and the confidence they continue to place in our team,” said Matt Seber, Vice President of Operations for United Utility Power Services.
“We appreciate the opportunity to support another important transmission project and remain committed to delivering the safe, high-quality execution our customers expect.”
Supporting transmission infrastructure investment
The project adds to UUPS’s portfolio of work across North America’s electricity infrastructure sector.
The company provides engineering, project management, procurement, construction, maintenance, field services and storm restoration services across the electric utility, renewable energy, telecommunications and infrastructure markets.
Through its Power Delivery Solutions organisation and construction operations, UUPS delivers EPC and professional services covering transmission and distribution infrastructure, substations, fibre optic networks, battery energy storage, electric vehicle charging and grid modernisation projects.
The latest award will see those capabilities applied to Georgia Transmission’s southwest Georgia network as the utility continues investment designed to strengthen the performance and flexibility of its transmission system.
