A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is poised to launch the KF-01 mission from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This mission will deploy 24 Project Kuiper satellites into low-Earth orbit, furthering Amazon’s initiative to provide high-speed, affordable broadband internet to underserved communities worldwide.
Project Kuiper is Amazon’s ambitious low-Earth orbit satellite constellation designed to bridge the digital divide. This launch follows Amazon’s inaugural Project Kuiper deployment on April 28. The long-term vision for Project Kuiper, founded by Jeff Bezos, is to establish a constellation of over 3,200 satellites to deliver global broadband service.
The Falcon 9 first stage booster supporting this mission will be making its maiden flight. Following stage separation, the booster is slated for a precision landing on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship, positioned in the Atlantic Ocean. This recovery operation is a routine part of SpaceX’s efforts to enhance reusability and reduce the cost of space access.
